Personalised, online,
life & career coaching

Sometimes, when life feels its hardest, we could really benefit from a private and safe space to have someone listen without judgement.

In a safe space, we can be more receptive to a little bit of challenge, given just the right way. We can spot any gaps or false assumptions in our own thinking, and make our next steps more achievable.

When putting our plans into action, it helps to have a neutral person check-in with us, and keep us accountable to ourselves and our wider ambitions.

Coaching is not teaching, counselling, or mentoring. It is a short, personalised approach to help improve the quality of our thinking.

This coaching is open to anyone. Working with a coach who has senior management experience, and a clinical background in mental health, has helped many people who were worried their mental health history might have been a barrier.

What clients say...

I would highly recommend Duncan as a coach - the experience has been great! [He created a] safe space to discuss my ideas and have somone prompt me with questions, checking my assumptions.

Dec'25

The coaching has reminded me that a sounding board is a very good way of reflecting and action planning. It has helped me to identify the various steps that I need to undertake at this point in my life, and to have some confidence about approaching them. It is good to discuss and reflect on progress, as well as identify areas that need further work and attention.

The coaching experience is a safe space for me to explore my situation at a time of extreme career upheaval. It is helping me to navigate more confidently with a view to landing safely on the other side.

Jan'26

I've really enjoyed my coaching sessions. I've got a lot out of them - practical solutions and valuable insights that I can now put into practice.

Following self-exploration, highlighting my blind spots and putting options on my radar that I hadn't considered before.

The question "And what would be the harm in that?" really helped me to move forward passed my worries and explore what could actually happen.

The sessions didn't feel forced. The conversations flowed naturally. Beach ball visual was great - really impactful!

Dec'25

Thinking about the different aspects of my personallity and skills to allow me to be authentic in the room. Also about managing my expectation to working with people with different styles, which do not align to my personality and how I work. Also how to cohabit with critical voice and perfectionism tendencies.

[I] would have been interested to do some inperson and face to face sessions, to see how that would have impacted the sessions, dynamic and engagement

Overall it has been a very positive experience and came at the perfect time for me when I was laser focus and keen to make fundamental lifestyle changes.

Apr'26

I particularly appreciated the reflective space and quality of questioning, which allowed me to slow down and think more deeply about my career direction. The coaching felt purposeful rather than rushed, and helped me explore uncertainty without trying to resolve it too quickly. This created the conditions for greater clarity and self-awareness, which I found both grounding and valuable.

The timing of the coaching was particularly valuable, providing space to reflect during a period of transition and uncertainty. I am very grateful for Duncan’s skill, knowledge, and thoughtful approach; his ability to ask insightful questions and create a reflective, supportive environment was instrumental in helping me gain clarity and take a more intentional, values-led approach to my career within the NHS.

Thank you Duncan

Feb'26

[I really appreciated] Duncan's ability to adapt and change depending on need.

[I found most useful] dedicated time for self development

Thank you!

Coaching process

Discovery

Sometimes called a chemistry session, this is a 30min call to see if:

  • coaching is the right approach
  • client and coach would be an effective partnership
  • sessions could be in work hours or personal time
  • contractual arrangements are clear
  • any payment arrangements are clear

Potential clients should expect a short email afterwards summarising the topic, suggested number of sessions, links to any useful mental models, and clear next steps.

If coaching is within working hours, a 15min three-way meeting will be arranged with the employer/ line manager to confirm the understanding of confidentiality and the EMCC code of ethics.

4-6 coaching sessions

After signing a coaching contract, the client will be sent a link to book all their sessions (usually 4-6).

Each session follows a similar structure:

  • re-affirming the coaching arrangements and client's topic
  • updates on any previous actions, and associated learning
  • client develops a clear goal for the session
  • client reviews their thinking so far towards that goal
  • client and coach test any limiting assumptions or mental blindspots
  • client sets realistic actions and contingency plans
  • client and coach reflect on the session's progress towards the goal and larger topic,
  • client identifies and commits to any new helpful habits

Where appropriate, between sessions the coach may provide links to mental models or resources that may support the client's progress.

Follow-up

The client will be asked to complete an evaluation form (adapted from the EMCC standard form) once coaching sessions are complete.

The evaluation data and testimonials are anonymised and made available to potential clients (on this website). This data also supports on-going EMCC accreditation and supervision to ensure the quality of coaching.

Clients are also provided with referrals codes they can share with anyone.

As a complimentary offer, the client can book a follow-up coaching session 6-months after their final session. The focus would be to check on how well the client was able to adopt new habits.

Pricing

10% of fees are re-invested in coaching for people in the voluntary sector. NHS discounts available on request.

Alternative payment structures linked to client ROI considered on request.

Prices are subject to change. Pricing will be agreed and fixed during the contracting process.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this website. I've had a lot of fun creating it, and I'll keep tweaking it. I hope it helps clarify what I can offer.

Why start "inclusive & ethical" coaching?

Inclusivity for me means making my offer accessible in a way not many other coaches can.

My clinical and managerial background gives me an understanding of the corporate world, and how people are impacted by stress, life events, neurodiversity, and mental illness.

  • For people who might be hesitant to seek coaching due to a history of mental illness, I want you to feel included in my offer.
  • Once I brush up my BSL, I'll also be open to people who are Deaf.

Ethical principles for me have to include the ecological as well as social impact of our species.

  • I wanted to see just how practical it is to have a service that promotes social justice, and reduces enviromental impact.
  • The .eco domain for this website includes my pledge towards social justice. I'll have a separate web page with details for those who are interested.
  • I have committed to re-invest 10% of any fees to provide free coaching for people in the voluntary sector. For people working for profit, or already doing well, I don't feel bad charging what I think my input is worth. But for people working to improve our world, I don't want concerns about costs to be a barrier.

If you think coaching might be for you, go ahead and complete a booking for a discovery call.
